Rugby World Cup 2021 Breakfast Show delivers the perfect kickstart to the day

Tune in for all the best analysis, fun features, footage and behind-the-scenes insights from the tournament in New Zealand every Friday.

Starting this Friday, the most entertaining and unforgettable moments from Rugby World Cup 2021 will be captured in the tournament’s very own breakfast TV show.

The Rugby World Cup 2021 Breakfast Show series will run for six episodes and go out to air the day before each round of matches begins, teeing things up perfectly for the weekend’s action.

Presenters Rugby Olympian and former Love Island winner Greg O’Shea and sports broadcaster Ashleigh Wilmot will be joined by a special guest on location every week at the world-renowned rugby pub, the Cabbage Patch Pub in Twickenham.

The Cabbage Patch will also be hosting sleepovers on a weekend so that any rugby-loving night owls can have rugby served on tap whatever the unearthly hour of the day it is.

The espresso-paced show promises to help sleepy-eyed, northern hemisphere supporters overcome the early morning kick-offs and get in the mood for the festival of rugby in New Zealand.

Each episode will feature a taskmaster-type challenge, with the presenters and special guest – in the first episode it is Love Island contestant Joe Garratt – getting to try their luck at hilarious challenges such as water balloon roulette.

All show guests will take part in a keepy-uppy competition complete with a leaderboard, and fans can get involved at home by sending in their videos, using #RWC2021.

Our on-the-ground reporter, ‘Coach Burf’, aka former England star Rachael Burford, will provide quickfire analysis of where teams are going right or wrong and we’ll also get exclusive insights from each of the camps in New Zealand.

One feature that is bound to age well, just like its contributors, is the Gogglebox-style review section. Each week, a well-known member of the older generation will give their unique take on events. Think Miriam Margolyes, Dame Judi Dench. Lockdown sensation Grimegran and Jack Whitehall’s mum, Hillary!

Essentially, The Rugby World Cup 2021 Breakfast Show is the perfect accompaniment to your breakfast just like tea and toast.
