Disciplinary update – Gregory Peterson (USA)

USA’s Gregory Peterson has been suspended for four matches for an offence contrary to Law 9.20(d) (a player must not roll, pull or twist an opponent) in USA’s November International match against Spain.

USA’s Gregory Peterson attended a hearing before an independent Disciplinary Committee on 11 November 2024 for an offence contrary to Law 9.20(d) (a player must not roll, pull or twist an opponent) in USA’s November International match against Spain in Madrid on 23 November 2024. Having considered all submissions, the player was suspended for four matches.

The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Juan Pablo Spirandelli (Argentina), joined by former international players Becky Essex (England) and John Langford (Australia).

The player accepted that foul play had occurred and accepted that the citing was correct.

The Committee considered the appropriate entry point for the offending and decided that the offence warranted a mid-end entry point of 6 matches. Having considered submissions as regards mitigation, the Committee did not apply full mitigation to the sanction resulting in a final sanction of four matches

The player’s playing schedule is to be confirmed.

The player has the right of appeal within 48 hours of the issuing of the full written decision, which will be published here in due course.
