SAINTE CHAPELLE
The Sainte-Chapelle, nestled on the Île de la Cité, is a Gothic masterpiece that never ceases to amaze visitors. Built in the 13th century by King Louis IX, this sacred edifice housed precious relics, including Christ's legendary Crown of Thorns. Its many stained-glass windows create a unique atmosphere.
Nearby, the Conciergerie, a former royal residence, was transformed into a prison during the French Revolution. The dungeon cells witnessed the tragedies of famous characters such as Marie-Antoinette. The remains of the former guards' room and the Salle des Gens d'Armes recall the past grandeur of this historic edifice. The Conciergerie's architectural richness and historical significance make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Whether you're a lover of art, architecture or history, the Sainte-Chapelle and Conciergerie offer a unique experience.
